[UPDATE] Global live weather is now in public beta test: http://jokointeractive.blogspot.com/2013/06/global-weather-beta-test.html
I've been getting a lot of questions about how global live weather is coming along. I'm sorry it's taking so long, and am pleased to say that I've found a provider and will be integrating shortly. If all goes as planned, all regions (including US) will have hourly, local weather updates at no extra charge. I'm just waiting for the provider to give me access to their service and actual integration should take very little time.
Since I haven't been able to actually code anything weather-related while waiting, I've been working on adding some buildings to Paperland. I've still got some work to do on them, but here's a sneak peak:
Thanks to everyone for being so patient!

Will the live weather only work if you have mobile data enabled, or will it work based on your rough mobile location?
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteWait for global weather, especially in Thailand weather.
(^.^)v
Me too.
DeleteReally nice work mate, keep it up. Love the art style.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the success of the smartphone is the bringing together of so many separate elements, phone, music player, email client, movie player, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteYou are already introducing live weather. Would the plan be to introduce other elements; maybe a carrier pigeon / postbox to show new mail received etc? How about city / landscapes that reflect geographically where you actually are?
This would need to be achieved without destroying the style and simplicity of the beautiful world you have created.
Good luck and thank you. Pro version bought.
I really love your idea... :-)
DeleteThat sounds like an interesting idea I aggre but, I noticed on the settings that the app uses about 10MB of ram. And my phone has a small amout of ram so would be concerned that the ramsize would increase greatly...this might could mean peoplle with older phones would not be able to use his app efficientLy without it using massive resources...unless if there was a setting to switch off and ensure memory was same as before then yes it would be good idea I think, thankyou
DeleteI bought the Pro version after 1min of trying the free one... I'm really eager and excited for the live weather update that includes other locations (such as here in Paris).
ReplyDeleteMe too! Tried it for a few seconds and then bought it! This should be part of the android by default, great work!
ReplyDeleteThe app is brilliant, but the developer pure gold.. I've traded emails on ideas and process, always prompt to respond and I know he is doing everything he can to meet the customers wants.. That sets him apart and I was more than happy to part with a few measly dollars on that grounds alone. .
ReplyDeletetried this and i cant make the sky all blue, some red is always showing on my samsung galaxy gt-s5690 :(
ReplyDeleteIndia....Mumbai please
ReplyDeleteIndia delhi tooo
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI love Paperland Pro. Well done.
One of my faves is the all-white landscape.
But I'd also like a darker (well, medium I guess, not too dark like Silhouette), desaturated landscape or two. I see a couple in themes, but the problem is that when I select them, the landscape which *actually* appears has very saturated colors, it does not look at all like the preview in Themes.
What to do?
BTW, congrats on bucking the 3D-look trend. I love flat art.
ReplyDeleteAny ETA on when the live weather will work in the UK?
ReplyDeleteThank you for a fantastic wallpaper Josh... Bought the pro almost immediately, look forward to the live weather on the app for the London UK area when enabled. Love the houses added to the original theme which have stayed with apart from making the Sun a bit more yellow. All good wishes. Zandra
ReplyDeleteyou would already know it, just to be shure.

If I could buy this app more than once, I would. THIS. IS. THE. GREATEST. LIVE. WALLPAPER. I. EVER. HAD. Keep it up. Will be waiting for the live weather update for the Philippines. Thanks for making this wonderful live wallpaper. It really goes well with my S4. :D
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about adding trucks, school buses etc? It's good to keep it simple/charming, so it might not be good in practice.
ReplyDeleteHey there, I love the wallpaper, it's great, and I'm eagerly waiting for the world live weather. Actually I have just decided to buy the pro version in the hope to give you a morale boost and to hold you in your word for world weather. Great work man, honestly beautiful. Can I ask you to please incorporate something as an option, since you say that you have put a Christmas theme, can you add a cross as an object that I could add to the landscape pls, for me that would mean that this live wall paper is complete and won't need any other one. A pretty cross, with different size like a large one to put in the background.. Thank you and God bless you. Even though world weather isn't there, I'm going to buy the full version as soon as I finish typing this sentence. Take care
ReplyDeleteHey man! great great live wallpaper! good luck to all of us with you fixing the weather thing. would be the only wallpaper on the list for me if you get it to work :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I really like it, so much as I bought it. But I'm very disappointed becase I believed that the weather issue for non-US users will be fixed soon. But two months passed and nothing happened ...
ReplyDeleteI had the free version for a couple of months and went pro after seeing the buildings theme. Keep up the awesome work!
ReplyDeleteAny info on live weather updates outside US ?
